Psalm  100 vs 4 (KJV)

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

There is no better way to come to Jesus than with a heart full of praise for how much he loves us, for who he is, and how he overwhelmingly blesses us! Praise reminds us what Jesus is already doing in our lives. Thanksgiving, while not the same as praise, is closely related to it.

1 John 1 vs 9 (KJV)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Our sins create a wall between God and us. When we confess our sins, it is as though God points a huge laser from heaven and blows that wall to bits! Our guilt is gone. We are free to turn from the sinful patterns in our life. We are free to live a life that pleases God. (Joel 2;12-13). Jesus' death and rising again to take away our sin and guilt has changed our lives forever. We can love God and people because we want to, not because we must.

Matthew 7 vs 7 (KJV)

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you;

Nothing is too small or too big to bring to the Lord. He cares about your sick grandfather, your biology test, and even what you want to wear to Friday night's game. Be specific in your prayers and wait for his answers!

2nd Chronicles 30 vs 8 (KJV)

Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield yourselves unto the Lord, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever; and serve the Lord your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.

At a yield sign on the highway, we pause before proceeding to make sure the way is clear. When we yield in prayer, we pause to await God's signal that our path is clear. The Holy Spirit helps us trust that in Jesus, God will make our paths straight. ( Proverbs 3;5-6), directing us only in the ways that are best for us according to his plan for our lives.
